it works

my blog is dying...perhaps a makeover will bring her back to life. maybe some brighter colors?? i've just lost the motivation...but the list updates are fairly easy, so let's do that.

• i made 57 chocolate chip cookies today. benny had been begging me to make a second batch, since we (and his coworkers) ate up the ones i made tuesday night. they are fantabulicious. do you want my secret? you know you do. okay here's the deal. i used to make cookies a lot, and they tasted okay but they always came out really cakey. (i call them cakies) so i went online and did some google searches to try to figure out my problem. after some research i decided to use real butter in my cookies instead of margarine. oh my word, that made all the difference. they always come out perfect now! oh and i use my baking stones instead of a traditional baking sheet which keeps them from getting crispy.
• i got a promotion at work!! remember how i mentioned the lead in my department who quit with no notice? well, i got her job! the announcement hasn't been made yet, but it will be soon. i was pretty nervous about it at first. i didn't know how my coworkers would respond to the newest employee (i've only been there 5 months) and the youngest employee being promoted above them. but i'm not worried anymore. i've proven myself to be a very good worker, so they'll just have to accept it! plus i think most everyone has figured it out by now, and i haven't gotten beat up or threatened yet, so that is promising.
• we watched the trevecca men's basketball team play this week in the NAIA tournament at municipal. it was fun! good memories of watching them play in college. they won the first game, but then lost in the second round.
• i'm into american idol this year. ben rolls his eyes at the mere mention of the show, but i don't care. it's been fun. my favorite is michael johns. i have a crush on him. don't worry, ben knows.
• we are headed up to minnesota in a few weeks for a quick weekend trip with ben's family. the royals are beginning the season with the twins and the felder men will be there to watch. the felder women will be entertained by the mall of america. i've never been there. we tend to avoid malls in fact. but it will be fun to hang out with the girls. really i just want to eat a soft pretzel dipped in cheese while i'm there. that's all i really need.
• ben got a scooter! we have come to a place where a second form of transportation is necessary, but we were not about to get another car, so ben finally got the scooter he's been wanting! it's pretty nice, and it get's great gas mileage! it came with 2 helmets, the second one is pink, just for me! it's pretty cute (helmet, not scooter), but i'm going to have to get used to riding the scooter. i'm pretty uneasy about it right now. i'm kind of a fraidy cat.
